For pakodi
  1. Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl by adding water and make a smooth and thick batter.
  2. After mixing, add soda into it in last.
  3. Heat the oil and deep fry all the pakodas.
For gravy
  1. Take a large bowl, mix curd and gram flour together.
  2. Make a smooth paste by avoiding lumps.
  3. Add turmeric, garam masala and chilli powder and mix.
  4. Add salt and mix it properly.
  5. Add very less amount of water at a time.
  6. Make a thin gravy.
  7. Heat the oil in kadai.
  8. Add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and red chilli powder.
  9. Once its cooked, add your kadhi battar into it and mix.
  10. Wait until you get one or two boils then add your tartaric acid or lime juice.
  11. Give a quick stir and allow it to cook again till 2-3 boils.
  12. Add pakodi and cover it with lid.
  13. Cook it for 15-20 minutes on medium flame.
  14. Add tadka of ghee into it.
  15. Serve hot.
